Language and culture exchanges. We celebrate diversity by inviting parents to share their culture through storytelling, music, song, dance, cooking, art .. By sharing and connecting, we create a dialogue of cultural acceptance. There is a level of respect and understanding contributing to our education for Peace that stems from a cultural exchange.
Screen-free school for children. With growing evidence of the detrimental effects on a child’s development, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends to limit screen use to 1 hour per day of high-quality programs for children ages 2 to 5 years. At De La Fontaine Trilingual Montessori School, we prefer a more hands-on, experiential approach to learning by manipulating Montessori materials that contrasts sharply with the rush to fill classrooms with the latest electronic devices.
A small and human-scale school. As a small, family-oriented school with at maximum 50 children, we encourage parent involvement. We have a high teacher-child ratio. The end result is a highly personalized, individualized education where families play an integral role in both the home and the school.
Family friendly events. During the school year, we share great moments with our families, potluck, Spring festival…so many opportunities to spend time together!
Be accessible for all families by offering classes as an opportunity for non-enrolled families to explore and discover the Montessori pedagogy in a Montessori classroom with a multilingual approach. Our summer camps are also proposed to non-enrolled children to have this unique Montessori learning experience with a trilingual full immersion.
Enrichment programs as gardening, cooking, animal care, arts, music, yoga… are included in our flexible curriculum, as a great way to teach children to be responsible and caring, to explore with their senses, to learn how to relieve any stress they might have, to teach about teamwork, learning cooperation and communication with others, to develop creativity and manipulative ability.
Nature oriented with gardening activities and exploration of Nature. While today most of children often exchange outdoor time for indoors and screen time, our program is designed to restore and strengthen connection between children and the nature world. Extensive educational researches demonstrate that nature supports children’s intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual development; supports creativity and problem solving; enhances cognitive abilities; increases physical activity; and improves social relationships and self-discipline.
Eco friendly school by implementing a comprehensive recycling program in every classroom and office space, by composting the scraps for our classroom pets, by purchasing sustainable, nontoxic and earth-friendly materials when it is possible, by minimizing paper use thanks to digital communication with parents.
