At De La Fontaine Trilingual Montessori School, children learn in three languages! Throughout the week, three teachers, one French speaker, one Spanish speaker and one English speaker stand with the child during his activities. A Montessori set up in the classroom is the perfect place for trilingual immersion. His absorbent mind is naturally building this triple perception. The multilingualism has the advantage to offer a great exercise for the brain, switching from a language to the other. It helps individualizing the concepts relevant to words and developing abstraction capability. It also increases their communicative sensibility as they become used to decide quickly which language to use according to the situation.
The name “Montessori” is in the public domain, and many variations and types of centers claim to be Montessori. As a member of the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the NAMTA (North American Montessori Teacher’s Association), De La Fontaine Trilingual Montessori School insures the principles and philosophy Maria Montessori had formulated from her years of observation. We provide an individualized, peaceful, mixed-age, child-directed and safe environment with a diverse set of Montessori materials excluding technologies (screen free school), activities, and experiences which are designed to foster physical, intellectual, creative, social, and personal independence. Our Montessori credentialed lead teachers are dedicated to the preparation of the environment to enhance the development of the children.
At De la Fontaine Trilingual Montessori school, we cultivate each child’s direct relationship with the natural world, by attending to and going out into the nature that surrounds us and by bringing plant and animal life into our classrooms so that children learn to care for their living environment.
We try to limit our school’s physical footprint and minimize its impact on the environment. Our furniture are mainly supplied by an environmentally responsible designer and manufacturer using sustainable or recycle materials, producing in USA in compliance with or exceeding emissions of formaldehyde regulations. We are constantly working with children to encourage recycling and not be wasteful with our resources. We minimize our paper use by encouraging digital communication with parents.
Parents are vital partners in education. They influence their children’s attitudes about learning, and support learning at home. They are a vital link between home and school. And when they become involved in the life of the school, they make our schools better places to learn, grow and thrive. At De La Fontaine Trilingual Montessori School, the family is considered an integral part of the individual’s total development. We see our work as a partnership with parents and families: we value their wisdom, invite their engagement in day to day activities, and enthusiastically share with them our Montessori methods. We aim at ensuring a solid line of communication and a sense of continuity between home and school.
De la Fontaine Trilingual Montessori school is committed to creating diverse, inclusive learning environments that work for justice as the foundation of peace. We believe that children’s unique capacity to adapt to their environment makes childhood the key to the long-term improvement of society and our greatest hope for a more peaceful world. Children grow and thrive while showing respect and tolerance for others by developing deep human values. The Montessori method is a real education for Peace, well-being and coexistence. It allows the children to build the foundations for a new society capable of living in Peace. We cultivate this value in our school including people of different racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds and seeking out ways to make our school more accessible to all families; we celebrate diversity and foster inclusive learning; and, we consider the unique opportunities and challenges facing every child and commit to giving each student what they need to find their purpose and fulfill their potential.Seminole Campus
